Are You a Stalker?

I have been very hesitant to discuss this subject publicly because I am the victim of  online stalking.  I have felt as though if I talked about it, I would be seen as a crybaby and someone who was playing the victim card, so I just kept my mouth shut.  TRUST that I will not name the perpetrators here.  I have not uttered the names for years publicly and will not do so now.  I have made police reports but really…what does that do?  Law enforcement refuses to see that there is a problem online when the victims are adults.  Their solution is to turn off your computer and shut up.  But, it’s not as easy as just turning off your computer.  The information that is out there can be seen by anyone. Recently photoshopped emails allegedly sent by me were posted online, but anyone with half a braincell  can see right through this farce.  I do not write like an uneducated lackey.  I won’t point out the obvious from the this purported email, but any person who has followed my blogs and my writing style will see the mistakes.

You can call me a bitch and I am not offended.  Am I a bitch?  That is something that is subjective.  My interpretation of a bitch is different from yours.  I am very opinionated and if that makes me a bitch, then I wear the badge proudly.  At least I am not afraid to voice my concerns and opinions.  When I write about issues, I do not embellish the facts but offer black and white documentation to make my words stand for what they are: the freedom of expression and providing facts.  When I have posted something erroneous, I do make it known and correct my misinformation.  I am not a bad person and have developed many friendships – even with those who I bitterly disagreed with.  This is what normal people do.  They do not retaliate by posting the names and addresses of  their enemy.  They do not post the names of small children or dig to find the names of dead relatives and biological fathers of their foe’s children.  They do not telephone complete strangers in an effort to glean information to use to harass and intimidate them.  They do not post photos from their town pretending to be visiting there.  This is NOT normal behavior.  This IS stalking.

There is a big difference between stalking and cyberbullying.  Someone calling you an asshole  is not bullying.  If you’re an asshole – well, you’re an asshole and that is an opinion.  Cyberbullying is the act of using the internet and other technologies to harm other people, in a deliberate, repeated, and hostile manner.[1]

Cyberbullying is defined in legal glossaries as

  • actions that use information and communication technologies to support deliberate, repeated, and hostile behavior by an individual or group, that is intended to harm another or others.
  • use of communication technologies for the intention of harming another person
  • use of internet service and mobile technologies such as web pages and discussion groups as well as instant messaging or SMS text messaging with the intention of harming another person.

Bullying is the constant posting of lies and using information gleaned to harass and intimidate with the intention of harming another person.  When I see some of these people referring to me and others as “cyberbullies”  and screaming for the Better Business Bureau to shut blogs down, I have to laugh.  Not just laugh – BELLY LAUGH at the level of mindless nonsense.  Nameless people with ridiculous screen names (just like mine) who have not dealt with even a nanosecond of what I have endured are crying cyberbully.  REALLY?  Someone called you an asshole.  Whaaaaa!  Did they call your house and speak to your children?  Did they contact employers or call your relatives?  Did they super sucky sleuth you and post the names of innocent people who they perceive to be you and exploit and victimize them with their filth?  No.  You were called an asshole.  This is hardly bullying and it sure as hell isn’t stalking. If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck – it’s a duck!

There is a concerted effort on Twitter to boycott anything Casey Anthony and it has and continues to cross the line of what is considered appropriate while shitting up the name of an innocent child.  Those who are participating in this effort ARE bullies.  A bully cannot stand behind their words because they are not factual.  Using rumor and innuendo is not giving their words any sort of credibility.  Their words are being disseminated for the sole purpose of causing people harm and intimidation.   I believe in the right to free speech, even when that speech is not welcomed.  Where is the line drawn when freedom of speech becomes dissemination of lies and the intentional cause of duress and mental anguish?

In the years that I have been blogging about true crime, and most recently in the past 4 years, I have realized that there is a fringe element of deranged individuals who lurp onto these dead baby cases like gravy on a biscuit.    This fringe element OBVIOUSLY have some very deep-seated mental and social boundary issues.  Rather than discuss the cases, they take it upon themselves to harass and bully anyone who dares question their unethical  motives.  When their behavior is rebutted with sarcastic retorts, they go into full blown stalk mode and make it their life’s work to find every ounce of information they can on the one who butt hurt them.

Recently, a comment was left on this blog that I will not post, but I did address the person in a post in the forum here.  It was alleged that I am the owner of another blog and a demand was made that I remove information from the blog that I allegedly own.  THIS is the stuff that burns my butt.  These people are so hellbent on creating havoc, that they do not care if their sleuthing skills suck and they blame someone who has nothing to do with their battle.  They don’t care as long as they have someone to blame and they can go running through the streets with their mighty torch of misinformation screaming for their villain to be burned at the e-stake.  Why not VERIFY the information and then call your local LE and tell them someone called you a booger eater on the internet?

I guess my reason for finally writing about this is I am really sick to death of the garbage.  I have never cared about developing an audience on any of my blogs.  I write because I enjoy writing, but the endless stream of bullshit makes me wonder if I shouldn’t just write about origami.  Maybe that audience is less mental.
