Solidarity for Jane Doe

#OccupySteubenville had another great rally today.  There were many times that I teared up listening to some of the various speakers.   I applaud everyone who stood out in the cold to take part and show their support for ALL Jane Does.  I noted that the topic that kept being repeated over and over today is this is not just a Steubenville problem.  I do not believe that the world is hating on everyone in the city of Steubenville specifically.  People are asking questions – not just about Steubenville, but perhaps about their own towns.  Something magical has happened as a result of this case – rape culture is being acknowledged around the world as a real problem and people are addressing that problem.  That is a good thing.  Knowledge is power and education is key.

Repeatedly the speakers implored people to get involved.  Start a group in your town.  Ask questions – address issues.  Be that voice.   Talk to your children and teach them that we are all equal.  Teach them that it is okay to be the one who stands up as the lone voice in the crowd.  Teach them that is is okay to say NO or object to behavior of their peers.  This incident shouldn’t be what divides the city, but rather should be utilized to create unity and bring the community together.  Everyone wants justice for Jane Doe.

Rich Olivito left with some wise parting words.  The law cannot change the hearts of man.  It is up to the community to change and move forward from this in a positive manner.   Rather than wasting energy on negativity and laying blame on perceived enemies;  rise above it and be the one to elicit change.

I shed tears today too. This is a perfect opportunity to talk to peers, children and open up about rape. We have hid it , ignored it, and tried to believe it never happened. It did. Now is the time to face it, deal with it, educate our children and hope this will never happen again.

  • I must admit I too cried today. I believe each and every person who stood up and told their story are HEROE’S. They are to commended for their honesty and strength. Jane Doe, I hope you realize how much you are Loved and I commend you also for your strength. You my dear, ARE ONE VERY SPECIAL GIRL! My prayers are with you and your family and I wish you so much happiness to come your way.

  • Sue Ann Sevenich

Wise words from a brave woman! Thank you Prinnie!

  • I am so happy this popped up on my news feed ….. Great job prinniefied!

  • Rapevictim

Ms. Prinnie would u like to tell everyone your criminal past and why u r actually in hiding????

    • prinnie

I have a criminal past? News to me and yet you and your ilk wonder why people are looking at your town with disgust.

      • prinnie

You know what’s sad about all these people? They bitch because they say people are talking bad about their town, but then they behave like morons. So what are people supposed to say about their behavior? For all the coming together – we are going to do something to address the issue of rape culture – this is what they are doing. Wasting hours and hours of their lives on hate. It is no wonder the teens involved in this whole mess act like they do. Look at their role models. Patheti-sad.

    • BooBoo

LOL “Rapevictim” you look like a complete ass. Criminal past? I love it when the haters spew unproven shit. Now Prin is hiding? Man for someone hiding she sure is out there an awful lot. Is it her fault some hick PI’s couldn’t find their way out of a paper bag let alone find a person? She’s in hiding yet, she has no problem posting on Twitter, Blogs, etc and at one point even announced on Twitter she was in the hospital yet those PI’s still couldn’t find her. Did they need a trail of bread crumbs to help them? LOL

Since you all want to claim she was in hiding here’s the deal for you slow people

      1) When sued, the first thing your attorney tells you is…. SHUT UP!! Don’t talk to anyone!!!

Prinnie did exactly that per her attorneys

How many people do you know who are sued, call up the courts or the person suing them and say I hear you are suing me, here is my address to send the subpoena?

Prin didn’t go anywhere she was still living at the same place she was before she was sued. Is it her fault they were looking in the wrong place? Are you people really that stupid?

  • C Morgan

I see yet another lame attempt to redirect by throwing empty handed accusations… that they don’t seem to ever be able to back when called out. Epic Fail!
And reality here, Prinnie is not the one under the world’s microscope. Nor does any part of her personal life have any relevance to this case. However those that are in some manner linked directly to the case (many), become public figures open to scrutiny by the masses. I know one address the IRS likely doesn’t have, starts with Booster, ends with Club!
Back under your bridge troll! Allright, please & thank you!

  • Who am I?

Hey Prinnie…..I heard that Scaffidi’s Pasta in Steubenville has to change their logo. Tisk….Tisk… Something about copywrite infringement? Isn’t that against the law? A potential civil case? It’s pretty strange to me that a family owned restaurant would be using the Godfather logo to sling their pasta anyway. And people deny Steubenville’s romance with corruption? LMAO

  • janedoesn't

They’ve had that logo for many years and only now copywrite infringement? We all assumed they got permission or paid to use that logo. Pretty dumb or just ballsy to do that w/o permission, but yes it’s Steubenville where the ballsy ones have always thought they are exempt from the rules that apply to the rest of us.

  • NiteVisitor

Maybe they just didn’t care. Just Sayin’

  • Amy

I have a question for Prinnie as she seems to be a crime blogger. Why are none of the kids charged with underage drinking? Or driving under the influence? It seems the police even used Michael Nodianos’s inebriated state as an excuse for his behavior while stating he did nothing criminal. What am I missing?

    • prinnie

That’s a fantastic question and one that should be directed to the prosecutor’s office. I wish I had the answer because I believe that ALL of the kids should have been charged.

    • BooBoo

That’s a really good question Amy. One I have asked myself countless times. Why is no one being charged with underage drinking? Why are no parents/adults being charged with having underage drinking in their homes? Another question I ask myself daily is, is Trent Mays attorney going to ask why only his client was charged with having pictures of a nude minor and distributing them yet others who have admitted in open court they too took pictures and videos not only of her nude but also of her being raped are not charged with the same crime? They admitted it, why are they not charged? I also hope to hell her attorney is taking note of their admissions because I believe that should come back to bite each of them in the ass. Hence the judge telling them to be careful not to perjure themselves.

  • May I be the first to claim it’s Prinnie’s fault that Scaffidi’s had to change their illegal sign? Shame on you, destroyer of stolen stuff that some upstanding person is profiting from! You should be ashamed for attacking dubious yet somehow innocent family business practices and you should be prosecuted (persecuted… whatev) for causing wee kids to pee and puke on themselves.

  • Why stop there BK? It’s Prinnie’s fault the Mayans were wrong and the world didn’t end.

  • sicnangry

Prinnie, after reading all the bullshit comments on Radionewz I just have to count to ten and keep my fingers off the keyboard. Are they for real?? They creep over here and read what’s said but don’t have the brains to give an intelligent opinion. Their only comments are usually childish insults. They just want to create a smoke screen by screaming “foul” at you, anonymous and any credible media or organization that has “dared” to speak out against the crooked mother fuckers who run that city and the disgusting little pigs who raped a young girl and bragged about it. It seems you are their favorite target because you showed everyone the screen shots of those little bastards and from that, they couldn’t hide. And now the “adults” (sarcasm) act like escapees from “Cuckoo’s Nest”. They don’t have an individual thought amongst them. They are not allowed an opinion-they have to keep spewing the DEFENSE for the rotten freaking bastards in charge so they keep their place “in line”. If this was just about “politics” I could just laugh at them and say sorry for your luck. But this is about a young girl who thought these were her friends and was violated and humiliated publicly on social media for all to see. THAT breaks my heart!! Sorry for ranting but it feels good to vent with people who have opinions and above all COMMON SENSE!!

    • prinnie

Trust me, I do understand. I have to sit on my hands at times reading some of it. They could be doing so many things to better the reputation of their town, but it is their actions that are making people form opinions.

      • asmetoday

I have to sit on my hands continuously being Prinnie Mom. I know she is very capable to stand up for herself and what she beliefs in. I am not surprised in the least how certain residents of Steubenville handle this situation. Before I get ridiculed for speaking out let me just say there are many good people in Steubenville. I also lived in Steubenville for many years. I know about Big Red Football and many of the families in the town of Steubenville. The Main Stream Media and Social Media are not the ones tarnishing any reputation of the City of Steubenville it’s the people speaking out on the behalf of their City that do. I wonder what good could be done instead. I consider the sources and often the ignorance that comes with it. I wont bash the Italian and Irish heritage of some residents like they have been doing with the insensitive Hitler remarks bashing the German heritage. I am better then that however, I will say this, that is not A’more that is Steubenville

When I read some of the fabricated lies about my Daughter not only do I have to sit on my hands I consider the sources and their ignorance. I don’t have to speak for my Daughter she can take care of herself. All I can say is this for you that know it ALL where is the PROOF I will leave it at that.

        • You have raised a wonderful daughter and I have the utmost Respect for you and her. I wouldn’t have known anything about this if it wasn’t for Prinnie. She has so much support from all of us and she and ONLY she has given us te TRUTH!!!

        • You hae an amazing daughter who is respected by so many of us for keeping this story going so we all know the TRUTH! I personally want to Thank Prinnie for all her hard work and for keeping all is of informed.

  • sicnangry

Yes they could. But idiots make it worse and the good bury their head in the sand. And that is what’s so sad and disgusting. They could be standing up to that school board and raising holy hell. If I had a child in that school with those pigs and that disgusting athletic dept. staff I sure as hell would. That would be the place to start- demand to know why they continued to play and nothing was done. Even after Westlake, Cole and Craig admitted to drinking and “watching” the violation of Jane Doe. Why are those coaches who made threats, degraded the victim and “provided” the alcohol still there? I know there are good people over on the “Dark Side” (as we call it) but PROVE IT. Get off your ass and OPEN your mouth!! And please, not like Jackie & Jilly!!!

  • Ok, You can be suspended from teaching and ordered to undergo sensitivity training for insulting the 1st lady. However, if you threaten a reporter it’s ok? Something is seriously wrong with that. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/ala-teacher-suspended-lady-insult-article-1.1256117

    • C Morgan

I agree, had that same thought hearing that report in my car. To include the public victim blaming and shaming by some also ignored. But having read of some occasional school issued repercussions, it is clearly a case of selective choosing… those that are shielded from accountability, and others that are not. Sports affiliation appears to be the deciding factor!

    • prinnie

If you are Reno Saccoccia it is.

What happens in court about Steubenville rape will affect these two young accused men for the rest of their lives. It will also hopefully show the rest of the world what we value. If we let sociopathic people (and here I definitely include witnesses, these people who want to blame others for what is happening, and then all those who shield these scary young men) get away with activity including abusive behavior, bullying, and sexual assault than it seems more victims will be chosen in the future.
I read the book ‘Our Guys’ partly because people were pointing out some similarities.
    http://books.google.com.hk/books?id=-QjG5QpOKcoC&printsec=frontcover&hl=zh-TW&source=gbs_ge_summary_r&cad=0#v=onepage&q&f=false
It’s an interesting book, a sociological study that turns on its head the maxim ‘boys will be boys’.

There are very large differences between the Glen Ridge situation twenty years ago and the events of Steubenville rape. But it seems important for us to note that ‘we’ as a group, including citizens, educators, coaches, role models, parents etc. seemingly again and again create situations where terrible things happen. ‘Our Guys’ involves quite long and highly detailed research about a Glen Ridge town situation, but as shown in short excerpt from Salon.com – http://www.salon.com/1997/08/13/excerpt970813/ – about what the students describe as a highlight of the Glen Ridge school’s calendar the absolute vandalism of the house of Mary Ryan house by a party of her classmates, this was far before the rape of another classmate by mst of the male athletes. Ryan, in a bid for popularity, told her classmates to come over while her parents were away. Not caring, most of the male student body came to the party and trashed the house, Mary and her family left own soon afterwards and nobody was ever punished for that damage. What’s consistently outlined is how many repeated triggers of awful and at times illegal activity that were not punished by the parents, school or justice/police. The schools, though based in a prosperous and wealthy town, still had no obvious visible honor role for any academics or other activity other than sport. If anything went against the successful school program, the students were not given any serious form of punishment as it could affect the sports program, leading to the boys seeing their behavior as exemplary, however bizarre or criminal.

What the author laid out so clearly twenty years ago is a society where these boys and their female supporters the “jockettes” or “little mama’s” seemed exist in a toxic sense of superiority and self-involvement. At least thirteen boys were present when they lured a mentally disabled classmate into basement, with seven boys of those boys finally raping the girl. Than, after an the endless legal battle over 16 individually tried rapists, the victim and her family finally gave up on after twelve trials and eight years. Because of that exhaustion, one of the accused and the thirteen trials was let off he, a son of the actual police captain, than sued and won damages for unlawful arrest. That young man went on into the military, finally to end up shooting at his ex-wife and her partner before killing himself. One could speculate that after the rapist learns could get away with rape, murder suicide is obviously not such a big step. Another one of the accused had another rape charge, later dropped, when they were at university. Also extremely disturbing was that at Glen Ridge the only reason those teenage boys were caught was because they were overheard trying to recreate the events of the first rape again so that they could film themselves with the girl.

I live in the NYC area and remember this case. My recollection is that 3 perps were convicted: twins Kevin and Kyle Scherzer and Christopher Archer, but they were freed on bond until their appeals were exhausted. After they lost those, they very publicly whined about the unfairness of having to leave university for their prison sentences, whereas if they had just sucked it up and did their 24 months or whatever right away, they could have gone on to finish their education without a noticeable gap in their resumes. They were also hounded by anti-rape protesters at university. John Miller was then a local NBC affiliate crime reporter and went on a Donahue episode about the case.

The similarities to Steubenville are: Townspeople actively supported the perps and threatened outsiders; the vicitm was trashed (on the witness stand, she was a picture of innocent simplicity, hardly a canny seductress); the perps were popular, A-list athletes; social media was a factor, because, even in the ancient, pre-internet 1980’s, these perps wanted very much to videotape their acts and were outed by their teammate who was supposed to provide a camera.

The dissimilarities: The level of official condonation of athlete misconduct was far less than appears to be the case in Steubenville. One police officer, Corcoran, the father of the suicde mentioned above, may have let bias interfere with the investigation, but I don’t think the state had to replace the entire law enforcement apparatus. (I think they just replaced Corcoran.) The school authorites had more of a see-no-evil attitude towards activities off school grounds, rather than hosting parties, supplying alcohol, etc. Honestly, Glen Ridgers were worried more about their property values vis-a-vis other suburbs (it was the ’90’s real estate bust) and the school system’s academic repution than just the welfare of a sports team. This is NYC, where the median house in a reasonable school district is $750,000 or more. They recovered. Steubenville is Rust Belt Appalachia, and there are a thousand other places to buy a home or start a business that don’t have its Google problem.

  • ballard

And what about more tweets perhaps detailing the night of the 14 year old who was possibly assaulted? http://www.mommyish.com/2013/02/04/steubenville-ohio-rape/
SO CREEPY, horrible, it just seems to keep get worse.
A 14 year old Steubenville possible victim of another alleged rape and then the police do not sem to be at all clear on whether they dropped the initial ‘report’? And more twitter from boys about “rape”, “…can’t raping the willing”…”run a train”

Cannot really believe we are really seeing this kind of cruelty…

    • Age of consent in Ohio is 16. Even if she did “consent” she is not capable of legally GIVING consent. Therefore anything of a sexual nature that happened to her that night constitutes statutory rape. Thus, anyone saying she can’t press charges is full of it. Her parents can file charges on her behalf whether she wants to or not because she is not of legal age of consent.

    • prinnie

It is curious that as many times as the media has asked questions regarding the April case that there are no answers nor any information regarding why those accused are not nor have not been arrested. I have my suspicions but will leave those out of the public domain…for now.

      • C Morgan

And based on ages, regardless of victim or parents pursuing, Given the authorities are aware. Doesn’t the state have a responsibility to prosecute such illegal activity on some grounds!? As it was said above, consent is a moot point here, she could not give it. Yet I believe I actually heard 1 official use that exact excuse in reference to no action! The alleged act involving more than one perpetrator, only further screams for a need to render some means of justice & consequences to the alleged. And I have no doubt the alleged were very vocal re. Their “conquest,” making further cause for!

    • C Morgan

Well I know 1 common denominator is DrH.J. (Rewind that!) sounds like by his own admission, a participant of! Do we have a repeat offender? Sounds, or reads like it! Yet both times uncharged on any counts!? Wow!
And article just clarified who gave the excuse of consent!? Wait Sheriff, isn’t age 14 under the legal age of consent? Did she not attest to the rape happening? Only later recounted the consensual part?
First I would wonder who bullied her into that decision on both a peer & authority front!? Second the state has a responsibility to prosecute any crime to the fullest extent of the law. We have here the “state representative” acknowledging on record they are well aware of, at a minimum a gang-statutory rape having occurred. It is typically not up to the victim to press charges or not. Certainly not a minor! It’s their part to report the crime & hopefully cooperate with the prosecution as a Witness for & testify against the perpetrators. Further most have laws in place today, especially in cases of violence against women, to protect themselves from themselves, as in often one can be intimidated into withdrawing charges later. But these laws & procedures prevent this, and deter jerks from harassing! So once the state decides to prosecute, it’s a done deal. The victim/witness receives a subpoena to testify. They don’t want to defy such an order and/or commit purjery on the stand, so more often than not they show.
And in this case we have a bigger issue as it involves a crime against a minor. And yet another example of yet another crime committed by same & other athletes, allegedly. That further supports 2 outside accusations of failure to prosecute certain athletes and also a pattern of rapes by that also fail to be prosecuted fully and all parties to.
It would be my thought that this particular case, or lack there of, would necessitate some heads rolling on a police or prosecutor level, or more likely both as safe bet there was consulting between the two. And that their has not even been an arrest with such obvious probable cause for, inexcusable!!
I truly commend the site publicizing, stormcats digging into, & Ballard calling our attention to. And I’m going as far as to say I don’t think BCI is performing to their expected obligations as of late! The iPhone screwup another prime example of! When the hell is someone of a higher outside jurisdiction going to step in and address??! The world is watching!

  • UncleRay

Following this case has reminded me of another Jane Doe from 10 years ago.
The similarities are scary, a drugged unconscious 16 year old girl, drunken teenage boys, a video camera and a corrupt sheriffs dept..

What bothers me most is that even though California had rape shield laws in place this Jane Doe was re-raped in the media (both local and National), and in the court room.
Hopefully , with Prinnie and others shinning the light this case may turn out better. March 13th will be a date to watch and see if this country has turned a the corner towards justice for victims or headed towards India.

I’m going to attach a brief summary of the crime followed by links to the story coverage from 2004 and 2112. If the summary upsets you then don’t read the links – the story is brutal and upsetting.

again, be warned that this is graphic and disturbing stuff

•When the tape was first discovered, this was treated as a potential homicide/necrophilia case, because Jane Doe was assumed to be a corpse. Her eyes are closed the entire time and in the words of the prosecutor she is as limp as a rag doll.

•She remains unconscious as she is raped-orally, vaginally, and anally by all 3 of the defendants. They laugh and dance to a misogynistic rap track as they abuse her lifeless body.

•At one point they drop her and she hits her head on the side of the couch, hard enough to momentarily stir her from unconsciousness.

•She is thrown onto a pool table and has a Snapple bottle, a can of apple juice and a lit cigarette inserted into her vagina before she is raped vaginally and anally with a pool cue.

•While she is being raped with the pool cue, one of the boys (Greg Haidl) is seen feeling her abdomen to see how far they are able to penatrate her body. He also slaps her genitals, stomach and breasts. She remains non-responsive throughout.

•While being raped with the pool cue, she urinates-causing the boys to laugh and shriek in feigned horror and disgust.

•When they are done, they clumsily dress her body (they are unable to get her bra back on) and she wakes up covered in urine, vomit, and seminal fluid in her parked car, with no memory of what happened to her.

  • Who am I?

I am fired up pissed. There is no fucking way that charges should not be filed on any kid involved in the April or August incident. Further, back in April, even the prosecutors son made a tweet about the incident telling people to shut up about it unless they were there—-that so much “fake stuff” was going around. OK….so why wasn’t law enforcement all over this thing…..finding TRUTH. I hope the school and the city gets sued by both of these girls after the criminal trial and that Jane Hanlin has a the perverbial microscope shoved up her butt over all of this crap. And Mr. Bruzzese……..since you love being so vocal, why doesn’t your wife follow suit and start answering some questions about the school. You people all suck.

    • soso

Just hope and pray officials at State level are doing than more than just watching this nightmare play out. Once trial over, AG hopefuly looks at how dreadfully this was handled by elected officials, BCI, select LE and Dept. of Ed. shakes things up at Steub. schools and in local Ed dept. Otherwise, expect groundhog’s day.

Interesting as I noted a few days ago on Twitter, this handle he claims to be, had been playing in dirty kitty litter and was being reprimanded for. I believe it was also clarified he was a sole proprietor in his pursuits. Why this is being reported in H.S. is beyond me also, but my guess would be they somehow think this makes less of what has been & continues to be exposed by. And well, it just doesn’t! No one, but maybe the desperate to redirect, give a rats butt how it was uncovered, only that it is what it is, and needs to be dealt with! Why doesn’t H.S. grow a pair & refrain from being puppets, then try some real journalism… undirected, uncensored, & without a transparent spin on for the obvious intent or intended. Just saying.

  • NiteVoice

I have lived in the Steubenville area for almost eight years and have never seen anywhere that the general public is so afraid to criticize the “Powers That Be ” . I have been told ( on other blogs I frequent ) that if someone does make comments about crooked public officials , inept teachers or crooked cops they could have their utilities shut off and have to go through hell to get them turned back on. ( I don’t know if this is true … I’m just repeating what is being posted on one particular blog ) In any case , Sheriff Abadaba Doolya claims to know who made threats to him and other LE officers, He says that he knows the person who made the threats , his mother , father and members of his family . If that’s the case , why doesn’t he just go and arrest who ever it is ? I truely don’t beleive that there were ANY threats made and this is just another smoke screen to cause people to forget what the real issues are here .

    • prinnie

…and look what happens when you talk. Those who are currently representing the city as the voice of Steubenville should be fired because they are doing nothing but proving to the world’s watching eyes what happens if you speak of those things that should not be spoken of in their town. Why did people wear masks to the protests? Just watch the current douchebaggery of some of Steubenville’s most prominent families. Your answer is in their actions. They are just too bucolic to realize that their representation of their town isn’t doing them or Steubenville any favors.

    • C Morgan

Why does this not surprise me! This would further explain why so few came forward, those after the fact (not to excuse the partyGoers from intervening on some level). And this is yet another example of alleged disgusting abuse of power over the community!
I keep hoping the mass amount of corruption will be addressed… I just don’t see how JD will ever receive her fair & entitled justice until it is! It would also give some further positive outcome from such a tragic & needless crime against a young girl. I cannot stand to see her additional torture for speaking out to be in vain on any level.
Perhaps there needs to be 1 unique place people can go to exclusively, safely, & anonymously share only experiences, knowledge, evidence of abusive & corrupt acts by the authorities, or even misdeeds clearly ignored by. To include the influence over a supposedly public school district. If there were enough pleas by examples of, or multiple claims of some of the same, and enough media attention drawn to such a potentially large compiled list of… maybe the truly higher outside (OH) powers that be, would finally take notice, and actually force their hand to investigate!? And then perhaps, having little doubt what they’ll uncover, visibly do something about it??!
Then and only then will a change for the better seem a real possibility!! But one also has to wonder, how far does this corruption reach??

And we yet again refer to Mr. Star & InSTA Karma, for those who missed it Detailing the backstory of the currently corrupt @ http://austinisafecker.wordpress.com/2013/01/13/the-steubenville-rape-crew-and-steubenvilles-incestuous-legal-community/

    ” douchebaggery ” . . . . . I love that word !!

  • sicnangry

Did anyone see yesterday morning on news9 the story about the US Attorney General stated at a press conference that his office is investigating the Steubenville rape case. And this was the comment from news9 reporter in studio: “When asked to comment on the nature of the investigation the US AG declined. It is believed to be investigating due to Cyber threats made to local Steubenville officials.” Do you believe the balls of that station to put their own spin on it? I can’t find anything on line about it. I was at work and the TV was on, I know it was before 7am, and it was not mentioned on noon news.

    • prinnie

Interesting. Now is the time for people to start contacting the AG with their own complaints of civil rights violations in Steubenville. Take advantage of their presence and start talking.

  • C Morgan

Wow, is all I can say to a so-called petition to get this blog kicked off the Internet!?! Seriously? And goal is #100 signatures, halfway there<lol! Lets compare the # of signatures on multi petitions created, that no doubt stemmed from this blog bringing attention to a case that has snowballed on its own, because there was so much wrong with the bigger picture! And all causes arising from are only positive contributions that if produce intended outcomes of, would only strengthen a community and/or society views. I have not checked recently but I've seen #s like 70k, 25k etc… That completely contradict the rape enabler crew's petition. Being a betting town, I would wager a petition to appeal cyber-exile of Prinniefied (pretending theirs held any weight) would likely surpass it in the 1000's.
Do they really think they have such "superpowers" that will extend past the borders of Steubenville?? Lol. But then 1 family of did think their powers/$ could trump the US Constitution!
Lets get real people of, they are terrified the truth on many illegal levels is about to escape the confines of! And with it, real repercussions doled out. I guess the philosophy of, keep your friends close and your enemies closer is lost upon. But of course, because in their world, others are ruled by the tyranny that exists, defy and they pay through various measures, long ago established. But the outsiders do not have the same fears to contend with, and much has and will continue to have light shed upon. Only a matter of time before karma in "official" form comes to collect (if not already covertly)… and the reign of bullies, bribes, favors, etc. comes crashing down.
Bullying ongoing of Prinnie, certainly does explain the adopted post actions of the rape crew, or the "wolfpack"!! After all from JD & even the April victim, I hear it really started on a LE/PA level forward.

Article mocking the actions of some and above.

    • I just had to laugh. I read the few reasons posted on the petition site and found this.
Found on https://www.change.org/organizations/steubenville_supporters under the link for the petition to remove prinniefied:
“jackie sacripanti STEUBENVILLE, OH 5 days ago Liked 0
      harrassing and threatening”

I’m not sure what site she is reading. I’ve not seen Prinnie threaten or harass anyone. Though she has the same reasoning for the second petition, but it must be more important because it is in ALL CAPS!( As if typing in all caps makes you want to agree more.)

      • prinnie

Yeah, a lot of them make those claims. It’s also interesting that a city councilman, Willie Paul has signed the petition as well as a Steubenville police officer Matt Smarrella. Gosh, I feel like the city leaders have it out for me. Surely this couldn’t be the case.

        • I just can’t believe that a councilman had to get in on this! Nothing surprises me anymore! Nooooooo! They aren’t out for you!!! lol

          • prinnie

I find it all amusing. It’s sad that rather than fix the problem in their community, they would rather lay blame.

        • C Morgan

Actually in retrospect this is brilliant! They are creating a public list of those most corrupt or a part to! Lol
It’s a perfect suspect list for the investigation from outside forces… A to do list for depositions or interrogations of!
WELL DONE! LMAO < that's in caps so my point may be agreed with more, eh Haradanohime? (:

I have a criminal past? News to me and yet you and your ilk wonder why people are looking at your town with disgust.

No kidding. This reminds me of nothing so much as the MO used by cults like Scientology; their MO is/was: ‘Always attack — never defend.’ They held that only criminals would attack their cult. In many ways the reaction of Stupidville is similar. The only bright spots are that they aren’t as organized, and they don’t have the cult’s money for lawyers and private investigators.

    • prinnie

They are attacking my family as well. All of their actions are being viewed by the world with disgust. The more they behave like this, the more it cements the bad opinion people have of their town. Tonight I was contacted by someone who knew of two families across the river in Weirton that were in dire need of baby diapers, formula, groceries and children’s clothing. I took to Twitter and was able to get someone local take them diapers and formula so babies could eat, and many others volunteered to send clothing and winter coats to them, as well as gift cards and money so they can buy these items. This would have been a perfect opportunity for any one of these individuals to step up to the plate and do something positive, but instead they spent the night trashing my family and me. But they can’t figure out why people are looking at the handful of them who are throwing a tantrum like they are smeared in excrement. Keep it classy peeps! Keep it classy. *sarcasm*

  • BooBoo

Ya know I am so tired of hearing them try to blame Prin. Why are they turning this into an “it’s all Prin’s fault”? When you ask these people to point out what it is Prin said that was a lie, not one of them can come up with an answer. I saw over at Radionewzblog that someone was blaming Prin and another person asked them to point out what Prin said or did wrong and you know what their answer was? Their answer was Prin is claiming she is the first person to bring this out and that’s not true the local news did. WTF????? I have never seen Prin make that claim but even still, is that the worst thing Prin did? Is something as minor as who said what first so important that they become so filled with hate?

Do they honestly think Prin’s blog is the only one discussing this case? I was on a couple of long time crime forums the other night and they have been talking about this case too. Some of it was factual and some were rumors. Are they going to blame Prin for that shit too? Let’s talk about Local Leaks for a second, I have never seen Prin endorse that site. I have seen MANY Anonymous and others speak out about the false stories on that site. Yet you don’t see these people mentioning that now do you? No because it is so easy to blame Prin.

I saw Prin tweet about a couple of families earlier tonight that were in need of formula and diapers. Not one of those people stood up and said hey let’s put shit aside and help. Nope instead they spent that time shit talking Prin on Twitter instead and of course a certain stalker of hers spent that time creating a blog about her asking for donations of diapers and formula claiming she was scamming people. Yeah, Prin wanted diapers and formula for her invisible children right? Well with out the haters help, Prin and others pooled their resources and got these families diapers and formula tonight and there will be clothes heading their way too.

I have to say this, if these people who are teachers, legal professionals, and critical people in Steubenville act this way online, I am glad I don’t live there and have to deal with these vile hate filled people. I sure as hell am glad my children don’t go to any school that teacher teachers at. If this is the way a teacher acts online can you imagine how she acts off line? Do we really need to ask where these kids learn how to bully online? Is it any wonder why more and more people are choosing to home school there kids? From what I have seen,

    • prinnie

Yep, not ONE of them offered help. Their actions speak volumes. They also posted the address of my stepfather who was in an accident a few weeks ago and is gravely injured. It is no wonder their children behave badly. Look at their role models.

That’s a really good question Amy. One I have asked myself countless times. Why is no one being charged with underage drinking? Why are no parents/adults being charged with having underage drinking in their homes?

    Excellent questions.

A good attorney never asks a question, unless they already know the answer to that question.

I suspect that the only reason that Trent is (to date) the only person charged with possession is that his is the only phone upon which the State was able to gather tangible evidence (i.e. the photos).

It is noteworthy that the judge admonished the witnesses as to two things:

    1) Their Fifth Amendment rights not to incriminate themselves; and

    2) The fact that they were giving testimony under oath.

If memory serves, the witnesses were all represented by counsel. NO competent attorney will ever allow his or her client to incriminate themselves on the stand under oath, unless they have previously cut some sort of deal beforehand. I think the judge was just being thorough.

I also hope to hell her attorney is taking note of their admissions because I believe that should come back to bite each of them in the ass. Hence the judge telling them to be careful not to perjure themselves.

Even if immunity was granted, that immunity only applies to criminal liability, not civil liability. These admissions may indeed come back to bite them in the ass in a civil proceeding. One thing we have to remember, is that the transcript for the October 2012 hearing was only about presenting evidence to show that there was probable cause to proceed to trial for the two individuals charged.

It would be foolhardy in the extreme to assume that all the evidence the prosecution is going to produce against the individuals will have already been produced in court. For one thing, the prosecuting attorneys are most certainly not going to tip their hands to the defense as to their litigation strategy.

  • JohnA

how can city officials, or anyone, get a blog “kicked” off the Internet. So what if they are getting a hundred signatures or a million signatures
It can’t be done. Besides there is more than one place where this story is being discussed. What are they going to do? Go after every site on
the Internet that mentions the Steubenville Rape

  • Alchemist

    @C Morgan February 8, 2013 at 5:35 pm

Wow, is all I can say to a so-called petition to get this blog kicked off the Internet!?! Seriously? And goal is #100 signatures, halfway there<lol!

I love the comment from the 50th signer:

    Supporters
    Reasons for signing

    John Lewis LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM

The whole world is watching in disbelief as the town of Steubenville abandons all standards of decency and legality to protect a FOOTBALL TEAM. To the people supporting this petition, yet another attempted cover-up, shame on you.

    • C Morgan

Lol! I’m confused… Is it the signer is the confused one, having misunderstood it’s intent? Not realizing the history of this blog? Or is he making a point of contradiction, being a Smart-ass to the petition supporters??

      • C Morgan

Crap! I missed absorbing the last line in his comment! Lol duh me!

        • John Lewis

I was making a serious point AND taking the p*ss out of the petition.

          • C Morgan

My apologies I missed it on first read. I commend your action, well done! (:

          • John Lewis

The really funny part is that after several days they have only got 53 votes (I am discounting myself).

How poor is that? Even if just the “youts” at the various parties plus their parents had voted you would expect the total to be higher.

          • C Morgan

True dat! (: I just posted a WH lame response to one petition that has over 31k signatures! The scale on the voice of the people majority… speaks volumes!!

    • I was amused by the idea of using 100 signatures to remove any blogger from the internet. A truly serious attempt to ban this blog would place the ACLU and others on Prinnie’s side, and quickly, as a Constitutional issue. Actually, the fact that they failed to reach 100 supporters makes the majority of people in Steubenville appear better. I would hope quiet majority support for Jane Doe, and for Prinnie’s right to free speech would be one reason.

      • C Morgan

Well at least they were realistic lol… Wait, nope, overreached a bit. Someone should verify the IP addresses linked to the names. (:
Just seems so silly & juvenile. Petitions are meant to promote viable causes, such as the many relating to the botched investigation, lacking charges, and action against corrupt officials. They are not intended to use as a form of bullying, silencing free speech, or committing LIBEL!
The claim is “harassing & threatening…” I’d say that is a direct and unfounded published statement, with intent to damage a person’s reputation. Not that it holds much weight, it still is what it is.

      • prinnie

The quiet majority do. If you look at the list of names, and I will be posting them soon, you will find that they are all interconnected.

        • C Morgan

I look forward to seeing that little web of deceit! :) Maybe it could eventually be a connect the dots diagram? lol! :b
Still thinking the old “Justice” League has over extended their superpowers, truly believing they can exist past town borders… Now the Masters of the Internet!

  • Alchemist

    @prinnie February 9, 2013 at 2:48 am

Yeah, a lot of them make those claims. It’s also interesting that a city councilman, Willie Paul has signed the petition as well as a Steubenville police officer Matt Smarrella. Gosh, I feel like the city leaders have it out for me. Surely this couldn’t be the case.

As the French are so often wont to say, “Plus ça change, plus c’ést la meme chôse.” (The more things change, the more they stay the same.)

Given that a city councillor and worse yet, a serving police officer signed such a petition, it would seem, from all appearances at least, that the conditions that led to the consent decree being imposed by the DOJ on the Stubenville PD are still, to some extent, in existence. Likely Officer Matt Smarrella believes that only those who support Big Red have First Amendment rights of speech and association.

    • C Morgan

It’s the corruption suspect list… for the inevitable outside investigation, teehee! (:

    • prinnie

Of note, police officer Matt Smarrella is the uncle of witness Mark Cole.

      • C Morgan

        How cozy & convenient!
I find it rather odd I have come across some comments by a few unknowns, that clearly were of those phones taken under warrant. I have my personal concerns that 1 or 2 of had a bit more involvement in Aug or Apr, than just phone data… But my point is exit phones, enter existing iPads-etc., (not checked as many stated), new phones a/o new numbers. And over the few months one of the kids changed phones/#’s 3 times!??
So my earlier joke re. phones in the OH River might not be so far fetched! Add the obvious prior to farewell posts by some, the blatant deletion of corroborated evidence prior, coach stalling on fields, believe was said even JH allegedly tried to change family phones and #s during that time. Doesn’t take a genius to deduce that too many LE connections tipped off the forthcoming warrant! And the reality that no one was charged with destruction of evidence, or the obvious inside LE leaks investigated, is complete BS! Further who knows what phones were actually even taken? ATT for one, is simple swapping of SIMM cards. If I’m not mistaken there exists other memory on the phones that would be barren of relevant data then if not the same ph!? Or who downloaded scrub programs, or even personal PC searches relating to how to delete data from phones permanently! And there’s the “Clouds” that held all history if not deleted.
Wonder too if during the slack process of, if anyone bothered to verify serial numbers to phone records and carrier account details???
Doubt it, because clearly selective kids ties to known evidence was destroyed, and very intentional! A total sham effort to recover evidence!
        P.S. IMHO (:

  • Some ppl in that town are as crooked as a three dollar bill.

  • ballard

So confusing, the petition does not make sense. I mean, it seems counterproductive to what they would want, a bit like Cody Saltman’s family suing this site which actually made him seem guilty of something. It’s hard understand the logic of a petition, by trying to stop free speech, well, isn’t that how you get The New York Times writing about you?

Also regarding lack of intelligence, have people noticed that these kids of the town and team are kind of morons, even now? Just by their twitter feed. I don’t think they would ever know this because they can’t quite seem to hold an original thought, but all they do is just retweet the dullest stuff. Its full of mind numbing football-compulsive RT’s, bullying, sex and drinking, plus tweets about ho’s and sluts – casual misogyny. They can’t seem to hold an original thought. Obviously the day after the assault there was typical mean stuff like “Role #:1Protect the team”, “save that shit bitch”, “unloyal ass bitches #idon’tlike”, but just random boys and some girls normal day to day tweets make them seem self involved and dim. What can their education program be like…lol!

Before, I used to see this case about all of society, which it still is, but now perhaps it seems that this area is not doing its service to these young minds. Also, all girls please note, it might better to get out of that town soon and be with the best and brightest somewhere further afield…

Actually, the fact that they failed to reach 100 supporters makes the majority of people in Steubenville appear better. I would hope quiet majority support for Jane Doe, and for Prinnie’s right to free speech would be one reason.

This petition is truly pathetic, and tells you just how out of touch with reality these people are. It also happens to reveal the literally unfathomable depth of their ignorance, not only about the Internet, but also about life in general outside of their little fetid little football-obsessed swamp that they call home.

The one thing that you see repeated over and over and over is, “You’re just jealous of Big Red!” Hardly. Up until a few weeks ago, I did not know that Steubenville even existed, let alone that it had a high school football team. I remember reading some comments elsewhere by a man from outside the town who ran a restaurant there about 20 years ago. He described how he went out to the loading dock one day, and overheard two of his employees discussing football. He asked what team they were talking about, and they answered, “Big Red.” He stated that he was literally astounded, as here were two grown men who had not been in high school for decades, literally obsessed with high school football.

I guess it just shows the level of mentality there. Where I grew up, we had a high school football team. I didn’t play on it, because I wasn’t the least bit interested in it. I couldn’t tell you which of my classmates was on the team — it was a game, nothing more. They were not held up as icons or heroes for us all to emulate. They played football because they enjoyed it, and that was the be all and end all of it. The same was true of the other HS sports teams.

Reading all this about Steubenville, and its glorification of HS football, makes me glad that I was raised in a sane environment.

    • C Morgan

I don’t follow football, never have. But initially from all the jealousy talk- lol, I thought perhaps they were some sensational team (on the field). All the state champs references and so on. So I had to chuckle when I learned they were division III league team.
And at least in some soccer leagues, when you top out a lower division in season or tournament, next round you get bumped up to a higher competition bracket, or play up a year… To strengthen the competition and benefit improvement for the winning team. So to claim multi state wins @ the same league level does not seem very impressive. And I believe the actual national ranking was in the 1700’s. So I push to discredit their jealousy claims as their defense strategy and accusations of cause for “attacked”. Just saying!

      • prinnie

The “you are just jealous of Big Red” accusations have been many. In reality, no one gives a crapola about high school football. Those cries of jealousy only make people more certain of the importance some in this town place on high school athletes.

        • At first I thought the football “jealousy” accusation was kind of funny. Then I read some comments by former and/or current football players on a forum concerning whether to fire the coach, and I could see that some football fans believed critics were actually motivated by jealousy. Those supporting the Big Red coach and team on that forum represented a small minority view but I still found their words very disturbing. They honestly do see the world through a distorted Big Red lens.

          • C Morgan

I did too. Truly disturbing & ridiculous mindset of a few!! And I found it even worse, there is no real standings to back their distorted reality, or gives it any viable foundation to make such claims!

I agree with you 100%. I believe that Jane Doe has already begun healing; I was astounded when I heard that she refused financial offers of help for herself, and instead urged people to donate to a local battered womens’ shelter. This kid literally exudes class from every pore. I daresay she personally has more class than the half the town of Steubenville, combined.

    @C Morgan February 10, 2013 at 10:04 pm

You are definitively on to something there! (: I do hope come civil suits time, no holds barred.

I suspect that the groundwork for the civil suits are already being prepared, as we speak. In all likelihood, any civil suits will be filed after the end of the criminal proceedings; any sworn testimony during the trial will be used as the basis for the suit. Whether the defendants are convicted or not, a civil suit is almost an inevitability.

Just look at the case of OJ Simpson — he was acquitted in criminal court, but lost in civil court, where the standard is that of “balance of probabilities”, not the “beyond a reasonable doubt” standard that applies in criminal proceedings.

    • C Morgan

      I think you are correct.
I wonder if perhaps there serves a purpose for the Feds to wait post trial to pursue any action against any criminal negligence during investgation of, or failure to bring additional relevant charges? Assuming to have official court documentation on record to pull from serves merit. Such as victim testimony from reporting of crime forward. As well as potential incriminating testimony, and potential witnesses to use in further prosecutions, with perjury hanging over their heads? It too allows for ample time during discovery, depositions, and other pre-trial processes, for the lacking actions against liable parties to have been pursued. As in remedying the slack criminal charges brought relevant to this case!
As Alchemist made a very valid point to forthcoming civil suits, and the less burden of proof factor, as a real advantage here. I can only hope there is a long list of potential defendants!
I wonder also if following trial, there will be some cause for action in ACLU involvement on her behalf? Applying the above Fed theory of sitting back.
I do not doubt the family wishes to put this behind them and move forward healing. I can only hope and encourage they continue full charge ahead to seek any and all justice, from all parties. She is already a hero for coming forward and standing her ground! There is no doubt others in the past also faced stonewalling upon reporting, yet failed to carry forth. She represents many voices before her, this I’m comfortable in alleging. I wish strength upon, with a world of support behind her, she squeezes every bit of positive from, to further prevail from such a tragic crime. By doing so, will pave a secure path for any future victims. And a loud precedent to deter such crimes continuing, where LE, administrators, families of, coaches, failed to do miserably! Nor does it appear likely Ohio AG will serve any ramifications! So, You go girl! (:

  • Stan

The AG has given yet another interview about how sending immunity letters to 3 Big Red players giving them immunity doesn’t give them immunity – despite the fact the boys clearly violated Ohio law by either watching Jane Doe be digitally raped in the car, photographed or videotaped the digital rape and emailed evidence to their friends and/or failed to call the police to alert them of a crime in progress:
    http://m.theatlanticwire.com/national/2013/02/steubenville-rape-crew-charges/62001/

Apparently sexual assault of a minor and distributing child porn when there is photographic evidence AND grand jury testimony from the assailants AND the assailants confirmed to a New York Times reporter that they did, in fact, commit these acts just isn’t enough EVIDENCE of a crime for the Ohio attorney general!!

(My understanding is the AG is not from steubenville or even near the town, so why on earth is he protecting idiot high school football players from nowheresville?!?)

        Stan
It’s called a bribe . It doesn’t have to be in the form of cash either. I definately question several issues in this case particularly the judge keeping the trial in juvenile court and permitting one of the ‘ alleged ‘ perpetrators to go to California with his ‘ family ‘. When did you ever hear of someone being on house arrest be given permission to travel across the country ?

  • C Morgan

Of course I can’t answer for, but I took it to mean some sort of alleged payoff. Or perhaps given the political connections, and his political aspirations, someone should closely examine any large monetary donations to any affiliation of in the last 6 months??? Truly the Feds are needed here to examine both, and delve into any communications between parties. IMHO (:

  • I don’t even see that a direct financial payoff would be required. There is a power brokerage system in place anywhere, and in Ohio there is possibly a great deal of pressure state-wide not to bring the whole Hanlin and F.B. gang down unnecessarily. Local power brokers feed power to regional players, perhaps? I base my cynical opinion, in part, on the fact that no one has touched them despite previous allegations and obvious conflicts of interest with the hospital and insurance companies.

    • C Morgan

This true. Or another example of JH conflict being on school board as PA. The Ofc of AG advising of the conflict, which she ignored outright. Yet the AG did nothing to enforce?? Odd isn’t it. You’ve got the OH bar review board failing to discipline anytime complaints have been filed on either one. I will say it again, and as history has proven, the higher powers that be in OH will not do anything to remedy, for whatever reason. And it sheds negative light on the Feds not taking some action for the entire world to see!

Thanks for the link. If you read the article carefully, you will note that the letters received by the 3 juveniles stated that there was not sufficient evidence to lay charges at this time.

That is a very different thing than the granting of immunity. If evidence to support charges does indeed surface, then it is possible (even if not likely) that the 3 juveniles will be charged.

Please remember that the investigation is (hopefully) ongoing; the prosecution are not about to tip their hands to the defense, are they?

While Steubenville may be as crooked as a dog’s hind leg, I sincerely doubt that the level of corruption/influence extends as far as the Statehouse. I think that incompetence is a far more likely culprit here.

As far as the FBI goes, I think their interest only extends as far as Anonymous — these are the people they really wanna get their mitts on. Frankly, they just not interested in a few juvenile rapists, nor are they interested in the legal and political machinations in a corrupt little burg like Steubenville.

That does seem more likely the case… Perhaps coming to the conclusion, it’s not a town worth salvaging. Secure in anticipating it will eventually just self-destruct. The era of the almighty “Big Red,” just a final masquerade, that now fades into a distant bad memory. The corrupt will eventually turn on each other, residents will scatter, and a hollow shell will be all that remains. Just a matter of a little time passing.
