CeeCee Was Confiscated by Ohio Dept of Natural Resources

Over the summer a baby sparrow was repeatedly being pushed out of the nest on my front porch.  I put her back in the nest several times hoping that her siblings weren’t pushing her out because she was a runt or there wasn’t enough food and it was survival of the fittest.  I checked on her daily and they continued to either toss her out of the nest onto my cement deck, or push her towards the end of the blinds the nest was in.  Finally, my heart got the best of me when they had pushed her out again, and I intervened.  I struggled with the decision to rescue her or let nature take its course, and I just could not with good conscience sit in my home and know that she might be dying right outside of my … Continue reading →

Goodbye 2016, You Deplorable Viper

As we say goodbye to 2016, I decided to write about some things I learned this  year.  For starters, I learned that I have wonderful and supportive friends who have held me up when I just didn’t think that I would be able to get through another crappy situation.  In case any of these friends ever question my gratefulness for having them in my life, I want them to know that I am truly blessed and appreciate and love them one and all. I learned about forgiveness this year, and that it’s okay to forgive.  It is healthy to forgive.  After years of feuding with Murt, I extended an olive branch and he accepted.  We may never be best friends, but I am happy that I now have the opportunity to get to know him as a person and to … Continue reading →

Post Thanksgiving Thoughts

I’m in one of those melancholy moods today, and am trying to shove the stressful things in my life below the things I am grateful for.  It has been a really difficult past few weeks for me to the point that it is affecting my health.  I’ve always had perfect blood pressure, even for a chunk, and last week it was 155/111.  I’m going through a lot – all three of us who are being sued by Deric Lostutter are.  And there is chaos in my personal life that has me completely stressed, but I’ll get to that in a bit.  Deric plead guilty and will be going to prison, probably for not as long as he deserves but he is going away.  He has filed this SLAPP action in federal court against us for $1 million and other damages, … Continue reading →

So, I Guess I’m a Bird Mom

I know I have spent a bit of time updating about CeeCee on here, but hey…it’s my blog, I can do what I wanna. LOL  People have asked me to post pics and videos, and I will be creating a YouTube channel and probably an Instagram for her…just because she is such a little darling, and her personality invokes a smile.  She really does have a lot of character for being such a tiny little creature.  She definitely has brought a lot of joy into my life over the past month or so.  Not that Winnie and Wilson don’t bring me much  joy, but this has been such an amazing experience. She was 100% dependent upon me when I found her and while she’s becoming a little less dependent upon me for survival, she has imprinted and thinks that she is … Continue reading →

Baby Bird Rescue

The sparrows have been using my blinds outside as a nest all summer, and one of the babies either fell out of the best twice or was pushed out by mother bird or other siblings.  After I put him back in the nest, I would check on the ground and peek up in the nest to make sure he was okay.  On Monday, they pushed him out again so I intervened.  I really wasn’t expecting him to make it, but he is doing GREAT!  I named him Ceefus.  A few people have asked that I post pictures and videos to watch his progress.  I am hand feeding him now but in a few days or so he will probably start pecking for food so I’m going to start feeding him mealworms.  I do plan on releasing him…unless he doesn’t leave. … Continue reading →

Autumn in Ohio

It won’t be long now until the trees are bare and winter’s wind and that ugly white stuff that no one wants to acknowledge will be here, and it will be yet another year that I am not back in my beloved home in the Mojave Desert.  BUT…I’m making the best of it, and I truly believe that everything that happens in our lives is for a reason and preparing us for the next journey that the universe/creator tosses our way.  I miss the desert A LOT, but while I was there I also missed the changing of seasons, especially autumn.  It is by far my favorite season just because of the brilliant colors of the leaves turning as they die.  That has always intrigued me – the leaves are dying and in their death throes provide the most amazing … Continue reading →

RIP Mr. Limberios

I just heard about Mike Limberios’ passing, and am so saddened by it.  Over a year ago the Limberios family contacted me via their attorney and asked if I could help get some attention on their son Jake’s case.  Jake was killed by a single bullet fired on March 12, 2012 with Jake’s .357 Magnum handgun.  Sandusky County coroner John Wukie ruled his death an accidental suicide – which in itself is an oxymoron.  How can someone accidentally try to commit suicide when suicide is an intentional action? Mike Limberios fought hard to have his son’s death certificate changed, and in the end that never happened but it didn’t change his willpower and desire to help other families who might have to deal with the way Ohio coroners deal with such situations.  He fought for Jake’s Law and brought national attention … Continue reading →

A Lesson in Forgiveness

About 20+ years ago, I lived in eastern Ohio and had a friend who was a student at the local Catholic university. That summer, two men broke into his home that he shared with two fellow students.  They violently assaulted his two roommates. Fortunately, he was able to slip out of a bedroom window and run to a neighbor’s home to call 911. During the short time that it took police to arrive, the perpetrators kidnapped his roommates and drove off in their vehicle headed for the Pennsylvania border, where they marched both boys up the hill and shot them.  It then took 10 years to get convictions for their crimes as the Ohio Supreme Court overturned both murder convictions because of a jurisdictional issue.  They were retried in Pennsylvania and both are currently serving life sentences for their crimes. … Continue reading →

Babylon's Burning

I love music, and admit that I am a throwback from the 80s – full on butt rocker!  My iPod is downright scary because I have a little bit of everything on it.  Opera, country, metal, R&B.  I love it all.  Music has saved my butt more than once.  It is the constant in my life and if my life.  As a teen, I was really into the hair bands and hung out with my share of rock boys, but those are stories for another day.  😉 … Continue reading →

Forever Friends

When I was a young girl I had a pen pal in England.  Her name was Claire.  She was my pen pal from The Big Blue Marble show through their Dear Pen Pal feature. I never met her, but we wrote each other for years.  As we became tweens, we drifted apart and the letters got fewer and fewer until I didn’t hear from her anymore.   I considered her my best friend and in that short time that we were pen pals, we shared much of our lives, little girl dreams and secrets with each other.  I still think of her often and wonder how she is and what she’s doing now.  She was someone who left an imprint on this thing called my life. Today we have the internet and we can connect with strangers and like-minded individuals.  I … Continue reading →
