CeeCee Was Confiscated by Ohio Dept of Natural Resources

Over the summer a baby sparrow was repeatedly being pushed out of the nest on my front porch.  I put her back in the nest several times hoping that her siblings weren’t pushing her out because she was a runt or there wasn’t enough food and it was survival of the fittest.  I checked on her daily and they continued to either toss her out of the nest onto my cement deck, or push her…

Goodbye 2016, You Deplorable Viper

As we say goodbye to 2016, I decided to write about some things I learned this  year.  For starters, I learned that I have wonderful and supportive friends who have held me up when I just didn’t think that I would be able to get through another crappy situation.  In case any of these friends ever question my gratefulness for having them in my life, I want them to know that I am truly blessed…

Post Thanksgiving Thoughts

I’m in one of those melancholy moods today, and am trying to shove the stressful things in my life below the things I am grateful for.  It has been a really difficult past few weeks for me to the point that it is affecting my health.  I’ve always had perfect blood pressure, even for a chunk, and last week it was 155/111.  I’m going through a lot – all three of us who are being…

So, I Guess I’m a Bird Mom

I know I have spent a bit of time updating about CeeCee on here, but hey…it’s my blog, I can do what I wanna. LOL  People have asked me to post pics and videos, and I will be creating a YouTube channel and probably an Instagram for her…just because she is such a little darling, and her personality invokes a smile.  She really does have a lot of character for being such a tiny little…

Baby Bird Rescue

The sparrows have been using my blinds outside as a nest all summer, and one of the babies either fell out of the best twice or was pushed out by mother bird or other siblings.  After I put him back in the nest, I would check on the ground and peek up in the nest to make sure he was okay.  On Monday, they pushed him out again so I intervened.  I really wasn’t expecting…

Autumn in Ohio

It won’t be long now until the trees are bare and winter’s wind and that ugly white stuff that no one wants to acknowledge will be here, and it will be yet another year that I am not back in my beloved home in the Mojave Desert.  BUT…I’m making the best of it, and I truly believe that everything that happens in our lives is for a reason and preparing us for the next journey…

RIP Mr. Limberios

I just heard about Mike Limberios’ passing, and am so saddened by it.  Over a year ago the Limberios family contacted me via their attorney and asked if I could help get some attention on their son Jake’s case.  Jake was killed by a single bullet fired on March 12, 2012 with Jake’s .357 Magnum handgun.  Sandusky County coroner John Wukie ruled his death an accidental suicide – which in itself is an oxymoron.  How can…

A Lesson in Forgiveness

About 20+ years ago, I lived in eastern Ohio and had a friend who was a student at the local Catholic university. That summer, two men broke into his home that he shared with two fellow students.  They violently assaulted his two roommates. Fortunately, he was able to slip out of a bedroom window and run to a neighbor’s home to call 911. During the short time that it took police to arrive, the perpetrators…

Babylon's Burning

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33V6SopSOLM] I love music, and admit that I am a throwback from the 80s – full on butt rocker!  My iPod is downright scary because I have a little bit of everything on it.  Opera, country, metal, R&B.  I love it all.  Music has saved my butt more than once.  It is the constant in my life and if my life.  As a teen, I was really into the hair bands and hung out with…

Forever Friends

When I was a young girl I had a pen pal in England.  Her name was Claire.  She was my pen pal from The Big Blue Marble show through their Dear Pen Pal feature. I never met her, but we wrote each other for years.  As we became tweens, we drifted apart and the letters got fewer and fewer until I didn’t hear from her anymore.   I considered her my best friend and in that…
