“…a ‘special treatment’ kind of thing”

Pastor Everett Mitchell of Steubenville, Ohio was indicted and charged with 6 felony sex crimes and one misdemeanor. He was arraigned on Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to sexual battery (2 felony counts); attempted sexual battery (2 felony counts); unlawful sexual conduct with a minor (1 felony count); one felony count of attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor; and sexual imposition, (misdemeanor. ) The Herald Star reported on and inquired about why Mitchell was released on his own recognizance. Where Are They Now?

FINALLY! Everyone was able to see the documentary Roll Red Roll on POV/PBS last night and since then I’ve had a lot of people asking where are they now? So…I am going to provide some information. I hadn’t kept up with any of the kids involved over the years until about a month ago when I figured I should take a look in case people were asking, and of course, to satisfy my own curious nature. Steubenville Pastor Everett Mitchell INDICTED

Pastor Everett C. Mitchell, 40, of 1644 Roosevelt Ave. was indicted on two counts each of sexual battery and attempted sexual battery, single counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and sexual imposition. Once again, local news WTOV9 is silent on a matter of public interest. I have known about this case for a few years and know that YEARS ago one of the young ladies told her principal at Big Red (Steubenville High School). The principal (although I don’t know who…

I don’t think any of us that were involved in the Steubenville case or who followed the trial closely ever thought that Trent Mays would go silently into the night. Privately, we all discussed our fears that two years in juvenile detention was not long enough for him and that he would more than likely re-offend. His apology was more of an “I’m sorry I got caught” and based on his behavior, and how he preyed upon his victims knowing that they couldn’t fight back because they were too incapacitated to fight him off — it was just a matter of time before he had to hear his…
