NEWS9 has confirmed that the out-of-town judge overseeing the Jefferson County teen rape case granted permission for one of the two defendants to travel with his former legal guardians to California between Dec. 30 through Jan. 5.

Although Greg and Jennifer Agresta, of Steubenville, are no longer the defendant's legal guardians, he is living in their home as he awaits trial next month.

Judge Thomas Lipps granted both teen defendants release from juvenile detention in October, but ordered both to remain under home confinement and electronic monitoring.

Lipps, a juvenile judge from Hamilton County, Ohio, is overseeing the case after Jefferson County Judge Sam Kerr stepped aside, citing a potential conflict.

The Agrestas' biological son had been invited to participate in an all-star athletic event in California, which is why a court official said they petitioned the judge to allow the trip.

According to a court official, Lipps granted permission for the Agrestas to take the teen defendant with them to California after a detailed itinerary of the trip was submitted to and approved by the court.

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio —

A video clip was released Wednesday reportedly describing events of the night an underage girl was allegedly raped in Jefferson County.

Numerous people posted the 13-minute video to the Fans of WTOV-TV Facebook page and NEWS9 immediately began questioning the role the video may play in the ongoing investigation.

A new video has surfaced that is related to the Steubenville rape case, which has caught the attention of certain hacktivist groups. Operation Roll Red Roll continues to play out on social media as links to information involving an alleged rape case in Steubenville have been posted on localleaks.blogs.ru/.

The video was posted on YouTube of a male juvenile reportedly on the night of the alleged incident. This video was first posted today under the user name Mark Bacchus. #Knightsec, who claims to have hacked rollredroll.com, posted the link to the information on his twitter account.

This case has put public officials in Jefferson County in the spotlight, including Steubenville Police Chief Bill McCafferty. McCafferty released a statement to 7News regarding the recent events that have occurred. The statement reads:

"The Steubenville police department has been aware of this recent video that was released. Since late August 2012 the subject who made the video was interviewed. This has all been turned over to the prosecutors which are the Ohio Attorney Generals Office, who is prosecuting this case. It's always been the policy of the Steubenville Police Department not to make comments on details of a case prior to it going to trial. I know this is frustrating for some. I can't change that now, as you know this is a high profile case and for the parties interested I believe I should not make a comment on it because I can't make a comment on it. It's being handled by an outside agency."

In addition to the recent Internet incidents, a second rally is being planned for Saturday, Jan. 5 at the Jefferson County Courthouse. Members and supporters of the hacktivist group "Anonymous" plan to rally in support of the alleged victim in this case. 7News has learned this rally will be more organized than the first, as advocates are being asked to speak. The rally is scheduled to begin at noon.

Well that you both for your concern.  It was a very hard time and so I can really relate to what this poor girl is going through..along with her parents.  It is sad to think that the school has no moral obligation for the actions of their students...seems to me you get punished worse if you skip school.  I went to Big Red...many, many years ago and had been proud of that for some time.  Unfortunately, as years have passed and the things I have heard that goes on in the school..or I guess I should say the things that the school seems to overlook for the protection of their sports programs...I am now ashamed that I went to that school.  I wonder if their is a educational state agency that could come in and investigate??

India Teen Commits Suicide After Police Pressure Her To Drop Gang Rape Case, Marry Attacker

A 17-year-old Indian girl who was gang-raped committed suicide after police pressured her to drop the case and marry one of her attackers, police and a relative said on Thursday.

Amid the ongoing uproar over the gang-rape of a student on a bus in New Delhi earlier this month, the latest case has again shone the spotlight on the police's handling of sex crimes.

One police officer has been sacked and another suspended over their conduct after the assault during the festival of Diwali on November 13 in the Patiala region in the Punjab, according to officials.

The teenager was found dead on Wednesday night after swallowing poison.

Inspector General Paramjit Singh Gill said that the teenager had been "running from pillar to post to get her case registered" but officers failed to open a formal inquiry.

"One of the officers tried to convince her to withdraw the case," Gill, the police chief for the area, told AFP.

Before her death, there had been no arrests over her case although three people were detained on Thursday. Two of them were her alleged male attackers and the third was a suspected woman accomplice.

The victim's sister told Indian television that the teenager had been urged to either accept a cash settlement or marry one of her attackers.

"The police started pressuring her to either reach a financial settlement with her attackers or marry one of them," her sister told the NDTV network.

Meanwhile, the Press Trust of India reported that a police officer has been suspended for allegedly refusing to register a rape complaint in the northern state of Chhattisgar.

The woman and her husband later brought the case to the attention of a more senior officer and a hunt has now been launched for her attacker, an auto rickshaw driver.
