…and THIS is why the true crime community is going to shit and many true crime authors are now writing fiction. Once long ago, it was enjoyable to write about true crime and to interact with intellectual people who discussed the case and the legal process. That was until they started going full blown potato and tossing all legalities and sanity aside. Every high profile case has its share of nutters, but from my perspective — those outweigh the rational fans of true crime and that includes the not so high profile case discussion.
The Casey Anthony case was the pivotal point where the intellectuals fled the scene like rats on a sinking ship and the participants were replaced with people who screamed conspiracy, foul, “kill the bitch forget Constitutional rights, kill them again - who needs a trial”. Did I mention “kill them again and their little dog, too“? That is excessive, but unfortunately those types of comments reflect the mentality of the current state of the true crime community. Legal rights, procedure and the law mean nothing. What becomes the battle cry of these true crime junkies includes none of those items. Instead, the masses glom onto communal butt hurt and threaten jurors for voting the “wrong way” as they are now doing in the Jodi Arias matter, and as they did in the Casey Anthony case.
Unless you lived under a rock during high school - or maybe you still do and that’s why you threaten jurors and are okay with tossing away constitutional rights - the right to a jury trial is the cornerstone of our democracy. Jury duty is an indispensable and integral part of ensuring each individual’s right to a fair and impartial trial. Being a juror is not glamorous and it doesn’t pay well, but it is a duty that holds high importance in order to maintain a democratic society. Would it be better if the government were solely responsible for meting out punishment? No, don’t think so. ANYONE at any given time can become a criminal defendant based on an allegation. I wonder how quick these people would be to hate if they were in a situation where they needed someone to make a decision based on the facts and the law rather than one based on emotion?
I decided to peruse Twitter hashtags for Arias and wasn’t disappointed in terms of finding bad behavior. Click the link and read for yourself. Facebook has its fair share of haters, too. Over five hundred people “liked” the fact that Juror #17 was being guarded by police or that she and her family were receiving death threats. Sadly, this has become quite typical for true crime fans these days, and is the reason why a lot of true crime communities have closed up shop.

Those are just a few comments out of hundreds which are just as moronic and disturbing as the ones posted. The true crime community used to be hospitable and thought provoking…now it’s just sad, hateful and needs an enema.
Edit: The person who claims to have revealed Juror #17 name and info wants to be credited for her work. Congratulations Chris Stark for being a total douche.

HarleyGirl: wormi was problably slamming his wife every nite and she thought it was because of her when he was fantasizing about stabby.
or this one:
Brandy: Linda, there was no emotion from that Judge either during sentencing, some people thought they saw emotiong from judge , i did not
RIGHT…because Judges should openly weep over the fate of the accused. This isn’t a Hollywood movie, people. I’m seriously embarrassed for these people and their love of what amounts to murderotica. Hate and playing real life CSI and armchair attorney gets them off.

A good read. However, the true crime potatoes will never get it. They’re too busy making death threats to Juror 17.
So, Chris Stark is Doxing-Rx?
You said “…and THIS is why the true crime community is going to shit and many true crime authors are now writing fiction. This is the digital age. The day of the social network. OF COURSE we are going to hear from any asshole behind a keyboard. And there are very few intellectuals among those assholes. No one in my close social circle was making asinine threats anyway. Maybe you run with the wrong crowd?
Also, what’d ya do to make intellectuals not want to talk to you anymore? I am having convos with them on the regular. Hm…
Also, some of mainstream media where reporting the same facts and dispensing identical information just as quickly as Doxing-Rx and other tweeters. Within hours of the mistrial announcement, a local Phoenix reporter was at the door interviewing 17′ sketchy husband. You were expecting that this wasn’t supposed to happen?
You said “The Casey Anthony case was the pivotal point where the intellectuals fled the scene like rats on a sinking ship and the participants were replaced with people who screamed conspiracy, foul, “kill the bitch forget Constitutional rights, kill them again – who needs a trial”….” Why are you surprised at this? Further why are you even paying attention to them and giving them a further platform by giving their statements a forum here?
Cray.
Maybe give attention to the victim and his family?
And maybe you should get out more?
Love to hear your response.
Do you think it’s okay to identify jurors when the State of Arizona allows them the legal right to privacy? I don’t have a vested interest in this case or its verdict. I didn’t follow the case and wrote this in response to the behavior of people who have no vested interest in the case other than their opinion and who delighted in the fact that the identity of this juror was outed all in the name of butt hurt. I find the behavior reprehensible. Would you rather NOT have juries? No one wants jury duty to begin with and when the crazies of the internet start harassing or threatening former jurors, it certainly doesn’t make future jurors want to participate in the judicial process.
Thanks for the comment and for your input.

Another good read about the social media outrage.
