Over the years while writing about cases, I have seen a lot of bad behavior. Mostly, the egregious behavior is coming from the true crime groupies who “follow” the cases, but rarely have I witnessed the accused (both who happen to be under a gag order from the state) speak out prior to trial. This case is of interest to me because of the individual who was sought out and paid by a particularly hateful group of true crime groupies who support the accused to “hack” their online enemies.

Heather Elvis disappeared from Myrtle Beach, SC on December 18, 2013 and has not been heard from since nor have her remains been found. During the investigation of her disappearance, it was discovered that she had been having a relationship with a married man, Sidney Moorer. Ultimately, Sidney and his wife, Tammy, were taken into custody in February 2014, and were charged with kidnapping and murder in connection with the disappearance of Heather Elvis. The murder charges were dismissed last week, however, the solicitor states that they may not be permanently off the table.

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Murder charges against Sidney and Tammy Moorer, the two people charged in connection with the December 2013 disappearance of Heather Elvis, were dismissed Thursday, according to court records.

Documents from the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office submitted Thursday confirm that murder charges against Sidney and Tammy Moorer have been dismissed. Charges for indecent exposure have also been dropped, according to court documents.

Charges of kidnapping in the Elvis case are still pending against both Moorers, according to court records. Sidney Moorer’s obstruction of justice charge is still pending, but Tammy Moorer’s obstruction of justice was dismissed Thursday, according to court documents.

The gag order, signed March 2014 by Judge Stephen John, prevents any side from talking about the case or releasing any documents outside the courtroom, but you wouldn’t know that if you were reading public Facebook posts by the accused, or the myriad of Facebook pages that have been created by their supporters, most likely with the approval of the accused as they regularly post comments or link inflammatory content about the murder victim and her family. It is bad enough when individuals victim blame or shame, but when those accused of her murder are doing so, it is hard to comprehend that. Especially when they are court ordered NOT to discuss the case.

I followed the case when Heather first went missing because a friend of mine was a member of a Disney board that Tammy Moorer posted on. She told me about the case, and after skimming through Tammy Moorer’s thousands of posts, it quickly became obvious that she was a bit of a braggart and a blowhard. There wasn’t a lot of action happening on the case, and I hadn’t given it much thought until Deric Lostutter‘s name popped up.

A local Myrtle Beach woman and her friends were engaged in an all out war with another group of women on Facebook regarding the case and had reached out to Lostutter to hire him to hack social media accounts and/or to harass their adversaries. It is hard for me to wrap my head around the reasons that anyone would solicit someone for illegal acts, but when you follow some of these cases, you get to see a lot of everything, including the worst of the worse human behavior. Desperate people do desperate things just to “win”, and to put it bluntly, people really show their internet asses.

Fake Facebook accounts were created to harass the victim’s family, and while that was crappy in itself, the accused have joined in on the inflammatory and lecherous conversations initiated by their murder groupies. “SATMAI” is said to be an acronym for “Sidney and Tammy Moorer Are Innocent“. Legally, they are until proven guilty, but this page which the Moorers allegedly endorse, is disgusting and was very obviously created for the sole purpose of harassing the Elvis family. I could sit here all day and ask “Who does this?”, but we know who does this: Vile, wicked individuals who derive great pleasure from exploiting and dehumanizing a murdered girl and her family. The conversations on this Facebook page are for torturing those who love Heather Elvis.

The women who create these pages make statements about tormenting and harassing others, yet fail to mention that they have regularly used the US Mail to harass others by sending multitudes of fraudulently requested magazine subscriptions, or the many employers and family members they have contacted under fake names for the purpose of harassment…all because they have a differing opinion on the guilt or innocence of the Moorers.

And then they added Deric Lostutter to their vapid attacks by paying him to hack and harass the Elvis family and the women they fight with on the internet. To someone not involved who might be looking in from the outside, this behavior is absolutely disgusting and to be quite honest, juvenile. Deric Lostutter has made claims against Terry Elvis, Heather’s father, which are libelous, defamatory and absolutely unsubstantiated for the sole purpose of appeasing the crows who hired him, and to stir the proverbial shit pot.

Sidney and Tammy Moorer have posted the links to Lostutter’s libelous word vomit repeatedly, and Mr. Moorer goes as far as referring to “open minded journalists” in the following post from his Facebook. Surely he couldn’t be referring to Lostutter, as he does not have a degree in journalism, and wouldn’t know the truth if it slapped him. Currently Lostutter has two restraining orders against him for harassment and stalking, and one pending.

I find it absolutely hilarious that Mr. Moorer mentions hacking when his own fan club HIRED A HACKER or that he is encouraging those same individuals who have maliciously attacked and tormented innocent people to hang tight, they are getting money damages for their nefarious behavior!
